Site Evaluation

A septic site evaluation/soil test is the first step in the septic permitting process. The results of this test will tell you whether you will need an aerobic or conventional system.

What is involved in a site evaluation?

The Texas Comission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requires that a site evaluation be performed before the septic system can be designed. Part of the site evaluation is to determine the soil type at the property. This is done by digging boreholes outside of the proposed disposal area and collecting samples of the soil that is found. Soil type will determine the required amount of lines for the conventional system. If there is too much clay in the soil, an alternative system such as an aerobic system will be required. Once the site evaluation is complete, you will have the information needed to obtain the required system design.
